Sri Lanka Vs India 2017: Fit-Again KL Rahul Named In Test Side, Rohit Sharma Included, Karun Nair Dropped

KL Rahul and Murali Vijay have been included in the Test side for the three-match series against Sri Lanka. Both the batsmen were part of the Indian team for the series against Australia but missed the full season of IPL due to respective injuries.

There are some notable exclusions and inclusions in the side, as there was no place for Shikhar Dhawan – despite the batsman performing well in the ongoing series against Windies. Abhinav Mukund has been preferred over him as the backup opener.

There might be a case when Dhawan will be sent to South Africa to play for India A, as Mukund is a part of the India A squad of now but will now miss the unofficial Tests due to the clash of fixtures with the third Test match of the series. Karun Nair, who is also the part of India A, has also not been included for Sri Lanka Test series. (Read Here: India A Squad For South Africa Series)

Rohit Sharma has made a comeback to the Test side. The right-handed batsman missed the major part of the home season due to an injury and only returned for the Champions Trophy. Though he was later rested for the Windies tour.
Here is the video of India’s full squad for the tour of Sri Lanka:

Kuldeep Yadav, who made his debut in the final Test of the series against Australia at Dharamsala, has been retained. Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umesh Yadav have been named in the Ishant Sharma led pace attack. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya has made a comeback in the Test side, replacing Jayant Yadav.
