Possibly the most likely contender to replace Anurag Thakur is former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly. The current president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) falls in the line of the recommendations laid down, ageing just 44 and owing a reputation of bringing discipline to the game, much courtesy to his way of keeping things tight under his captaincy tenure.

The left-hand batsman has been a better servant of the game and BCCI for a longer run, staying relatively less controversial than that of others. Well regarded in the closed quarters of cricket’s governing body in India, Ganguly is just a decision away from becoming the next president of BCCI.
