At the helm of affairs of the Armed forces, you often need an individual of a flexible, yet stern mindset. Former skipper Anil Kumble just fits in that bill and post analysing the legendary leg-spinner’s traits, it’s fair to say that he would have been a fine part of the Indian army.

As a leader, Kumble took some tough, yet strong decisions that reflected his character. For instance, the way he backed his boys during a rather tough tour of Australia, was simply commendable, as India answered Australia in a way no what would have ever expected.

Kumble’s leadership at Perth, a famous overseas win, was what stood out in all walks of the game. Acts of resilience and will as the one mentioned, make one feel that Kumble was fit to hold a senior position in the Indian Armed forces. To add to that, his strategic and tactical virtues would have further added to his aura.
