Former England cricketer Alastair Cook is the greatest Test opener of all the time. He had the temperament, patience and resilience to face new balls and toil hard to dismantle any opposition. His hunger of scoring runs, even after scoring a century, makes him a great player.

Cook has more Test centuries than any other English batsman to have played the game. He became the first-ever batsman to score 10,000 Test runs in England’s history. In total, Cook has played 161 Tests, and 92 ODIs, scoring 3,204 runs. He retired from international cricket in 2018 at a young age, leaving his run tally in Tests at 12,472.

The former Test captain was knighted in the 2019 New Year Honours.
