Vijay Shankar:
The all-rounder Vijay Shankar’s knock against Australia in the world Cup will be remembered for long. The Kangaroo’s faltered after Shankar took the wicket of Marcus Stoinis and Adam Zampa. India won that game in the World Cup held in England. He is the third bowler to pick up the wicket of the first bowl during the World Cup.
Also, Shankar featured in three of the five ODIs and all the three T20Is in New Zealand. During the final ODI of the New Zealand series, he played the lead role when India was in dire straits (18 for 4). Shankar stitched a 98-run partnership with Rayudu. That performance, when the opposition was on top, could prove pivotal. He is the future player on which India should invest. Seeing his performance last year, he should be included in the BCCI’s contract in the given period.
