IPL Spot-fixing controversy:
When the main members of the team are surrounded by the allegations of match-fixing, the fans might lose faith from the game.
In 2013, Rajasthan Royals’ three cricketers S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila, and Ankeet Chavan were taken into custody on the 16th of May in 2013 for spot-fixing scandal. This scandal had left the fans in utter dismay.
However, immediate actions were taken to stop the corruption in the game as all three of them were banned for life from cricket.
Recently, BCCI reduced Sreesanth’s ban to seven years which makes him eligible to play for India from September 2020.
