Ireland defeated Pakistan in 2007 World Cup:
Pakistan team under the captaincy of Inzamam-ul-Haq played their worst cricket in the Caribbean when they lost to Ireland. The team was in disarray further, as their coach Bob Woomer died. Followed by their coach’s death, Pakistan team became very vulnerable, they were out of contention due to their gutted confidence, but nobody expected Pakistan to suffer such a blow as they lost to Ireland at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica.
Ireland bowlers Dave Smith, Boyd Rankin and Andre Botha went through the Pakistan batting attack. They were shaky and have no power to resists the Irish bowler from wrecking havoc on them.
Pakistan were all out for 132 runs.
Pakistan bowlers tried their best to defend the paltry total, but Irish batsmen even after difficulties managed to upset Pakistan as they defeated Pakistan by three wickets. The hero of the match was Neil O’Brain who played a match winning innings of 72 runs. He was dismissed by Shoaib Malik when Ireland were at 108 runs. So there was a nervous moment in the Irish dressing room. But Kevin O’Brian, brother of Neil, scored crucial 16 to win Ireland their first World Cup match.
