In the last five years many Indian cricketers have made their mark in the very first match they played. But there are cricketers who failed to make an impression on their debut match but later went on to be successful cricketers for India.

Let’s look at the top 5 cricketers who failed on their debut in ODI’s:

5. Naman Ojha:

Naman Ojha who has been a successful player in the IPL circuit, but couldn’t transform it into the International side. After having a successful IPL in the year 2010 he was called up National side for the Tri series tour in Zimbabwe which also featured Sri Lanka in it. Naman Ojha made his debut against Sri Lanka. Having been sent as a opener Naman Ojha didn’t make much of an use as he scored just one run before getting out lbw to Nuwan Kulasekara. This is the only ODI he played for India so far.

4. Karn Sharma:

Karn Sharma made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in the year 2014 at Eden gardens. This match is also marked as a famous ODI where Rohit Sharma made a historic 264. Although India posted a huge total and won the match by a huge margin, Karn Sharma produced worst bowling figures. He ended up wicket less and gave away 64 runs in his 9 overs which was a debut to forget from Sharma’s perspective.

3. Kedhar Jadhav:

Kedhar Jadhav made his debut against Sri Lanka in the year 2014 against Sri Lanka in Ranchi. It’s the final ODI of the series and Jadhav was given an opportunity to shine. But he couldn’t make much of an impact as he was out for just 20 before he got out bowled by Mendis. Recently in the India tour of Zimbabwe Jadhav looked mighty impressive and scored a ton in the third and final ODI.

2. Cheteshwar Pujara:

Cheteshwar Pujara who is often known as a Test match specialist was given a chance in limited overs during the India tour of Zimbabwe 2013. He made his debut against Zimbabwe in the fourth ODI in which India has been given a target of 144 to chase. But Pujara looked unsettled at the crease before he got out bowled to chatara. Pujara’s last appearance in ODI’s was against Bangladesh in the year 2014.

1. Shikhar Dhawan:

Shikhar Dhawan from Delhi made his debut against Australia in the year 2010 at Visakhapatnam. Kohli the other guy from Delhi was the Hero on that particular day as he took India home with a scintillating century. But it was a terrible debut for Shikhar Dhawan as he got out for Zero and lasted for just two deliveries. Now he turned out to be one of the best limited overs batsman in the world.
