  1. Anil Kumble:

Having known the side since the last 12 months now, Kumble precisely knows the strengths and weaknesses of all members. The former leg spinner took charge of things from the tour of West Indies last year and since then, the Indian test side has dominated the proceedings like no other team. In the 17 Test matches the side played under the coaching of Kumble, India won 11, while they lost just a solitary test. Kumble as a coach has been excellent to say the least as he made some serious impact right from the time he stepped in. One of his bold calls included backing the under fire Cheteshwar Pujara. The Saurashtra batsman was axed from the Test side under Ravi Shastri’s coaching, but it was Kumble who backed the batsman completely. It resulted in Pujara emerging as India’s best batsman of the home season and playing an integral knock against Australia at Bangalore which turned out to be a series turning innings. If India manage to win the Champions Trophy, the probability of Kumble being retained will shoot up massively without second thoughts.
