- Virender Sehwag:
The most out of the box candidate for the role of India’s coach is Virender Sehwag, who applied for the job on the insistence of his former teammates. Sehwag as a player was nothing less than a revolutionary who changed the outlook of Test cricket from a global standpoint. His approach was very simple and grounded – Go out on the field and express yourself from the first ball. Aggression and unparalleled ruthlessness was a clear quality in Sehwag’s attributes. His coaching portfolio isn’t that large, having managed just the Kings XI Punjab for two seasons now. As a coach though, he could form a great equation with his Delhi and India teammate Virat Kohli. Sehwag also precise knows the members of the current Indian side in and out, having played with them in the evening of his career. It will surely be a fresh sight to watch Sehwag taking over as India’s coach.
