Dwayne Smith – 2.3 crores
Dwayne Smith looked like an automatic option at the top order for the Lions. It seemed to be at least going by the way they bid for him. While they had the young batting talents from the country and a couple of world class all-rounders, a genuine attacking batsman slot was still vacant. Smith, bought at a cost of 2.3 crores, filled that void and made the squad look complete and T20-fit. He was able to contribute well for his team later on. In 12 matches, Smith scored 324 runs at a strike rate of close to 150 with three half centuries.
