The 21-year-old sensation Avishka Fernando is seen as one for the future batsman when it comes to the Sri Lankan cricket which has been in transition.

Recently, Fernando has become third youngest to slam a ton in the ODI showpiece. He achieved the feat against Wondies at Chester-le-Street in Durham.

Earlier, Fernando had slammed a ton at the age of 20 years and 196 days in 2011 against the Netherlands. However, Ricky Ponting was the first to slam 102 at the age of 21 years and 76 days against the Windies at Jaipur in 1996.

Fernando managed to play just four World Cup matches. And by going his average, it’s phenomenal which reads as 50.75. Fernando had accumulated 203 runs which further saw him scoring at a brisk pace.
