The fast bowler from Bengal made a comeback in the national team in the Test series against Sri Lanka and looked in perfect rhythm. His seam position was just brilliant all through the series which troubled the Sri Lankan batsmen on a consistent basis. Though Shami was part of the Champions Trophy squad, he didn’t get a game as Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah was preferred ahead of him.

With the skills and abilities Shami possess, it is a certainty that the selectors cannot keep him away from the squad for a long time but as of now, he will again get a much-deserved rest ahead of the limited overs home series against Australia and New Zealand.
