Sachin is the reason why cricket gained popularity in India and more than anyone else, it was Sachin who shaped and set the platform for all the cricketers, in India at least. Kohli is popular because of this trend in our country, but that doesn’t mean Kohli’s potential, his heroics should be denied. It’s also a fact that Virat is a by-product of cricket in India, Sachin being the reason for it.
Also, the fact that Sachin is far bigger than cricket, Sachin is more popular as a person than a cricketer and Kohli, on the other hand, is in the process of evolving as a person. He will have to stop cricket or his professional life at some part in life but he will march on as a person till his death and people will always like and look forward to that.
Every cricket fanatic in India would always be thankful for cricket and it’s predecessors for being a reason in introducing a person like Sachin, connecting people to him by this means and increasing his reach.
