- Quickest to 10k ODI runs onwards:
On the 31st of March 2001, a historic occasion was witnessed, as Tendulkar in an ODI against Australia, became the first batsman in the history of ODI cricket to amass the elusive five figure run mark. Batting in his 259th innings, Tendulkar got to 10,000 ODI runs and from there on, for every thousand run mark, he was the first batsman to get there, and thereby, becoming the quickest to do so. Getting back to our initial point of batting being far easier in the modern day ODI arena, this record is bound to be broken in the near future. With already 8257 runs in 181 innings, it’s just a matter of time before Kohli gets into that elusive five figure club. It’s just a mere formality for the Indian skipper to break that record, and etch himself in the record books. The feat will be applicable for all thousand run marks from the 10,000 mark.
