This stylish opener from Karnataka has been among the leading run scorers in the Ranji trophy since the last 3 seasons. He has everything in his batting – aggression, elegance, maturity and what not! Despite having all the essential factors, Uthappa is time and again overlooked by the selectors. His exclusion from the Indian side is baffling for Indian cricket fans.
He has performed in every possible tournament. The Ranji Trophy, Irani Cup, Deodhar Trophy, IPL and the CL T20 are some tournaments indeed! Yet the selectors don’t even consider him. After amassing more than 600 runs in the previous IPL, it was expected that Uthappa would tour England with the side. But he was ignored again. It is high time that the Indian selectors understand the importance of Uthappa, before he is wiped off the domestic scene as well.
