2. S. BADRINATH:
When people look at the stats of a player, who averages 58.69 in first class cricket, and has 31 tons to his name, they often get the feeling that he would have played a lot of test matches. But people are in for a massive shock; when they realize that the player has gone on to represent his nation in just two test matches. As ironic as it may sound, but this is indeed the story of S. Badrinath from Tamil Nadu.
Badrinath has been an exceptional run getter in the Ranji circuit. He has even played two tests for India. In his debut innings, he played a fine knock 56 while the other batsmen were jolted apart by Dale Steyn’s vicious reverse swing. Against an intimidating South African bowling lineup, Badrinath played profusely well. As fate would have it, he was completely ignored after that series! Had he played for India, he could have surely amassed a few centuries. Another underrated talent down the drain.
