United India started playing cricket since 1932. The partition that happened in 1947 led to the formation of independent India and Pakistan. Pakistan became a permanent member of ICC – International Cricket Council in 1948 and played their first Test against India the same year in Delhi.

Since then it has been one of the most intriguing rivalries in sports, cricket in particular. Pakistan has had upper hand in the rivalry in bilateral series and India in the multi nation tournaments like World Cups.

The tension during an India-Pakistan cricket match is unreal, be it a Test match or a limited over fixture. The 150 crore people across the two countries will be glued to their television sets hoping for their team’s victory over the arch-rivals. In a way, this rivalry has much needed added glamour to the sport just like The Ashes series between England & Australia.
