Shakib Al Hasan, Global T20 Cricket Canada

Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan is likely to miss the tour of India. As per multiple reports, there is every indication that Shakib will not be travelling to India following his fallout with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). He hasn’t been a regular in the practice sessions in the lead up to the tour.

Few days back, he led the strike against BCB. It was called off after a truce between the board and players but later, BCB contemplated action against the captain for signing with a mobile company, which was a breach of his central contract.

The board decided against taking an action but it looks like Shakib is now himself unwilling to tour India. Players, head coach Russell Domingo and Daniel Vettori had a meeting with the board yesterday but Shakib wasn’t a part of it.

It was later announced that Bangladesh would name a new squad for T20I series against India. Most of the players are likely to be retained but there are high chances that Shakib will not be part of the complete series.

Bangladesh Predicted Playing XI

Should he miss the tour, Shakib will be the second star player to miss the series. Earlier, Tamim Iqbal had withdrawn from the tour due to personal reasons. He was expected to play the T20I series but was later replaced by Imrul Kayes.

Mohammad Saifuddin has already been ruled out of the series due to back issues. BCB did not name his replacement. Bangladesh’s new T20I squad will be named today.

The visitors will kick off their campaign with the first T20I in Delhi on November 3. The next two T20Is will be played on November 7 and 10 in Rajkot and Nagpur. The first Test of the series will take place in Indore from November 14. The second Test at Eden Gardens, from November 22, could be a day/night Test.

BCCI had sent an official request for the same to BCB last week. The Bangladesh board will take a call on it this week.
