Jacob Martin, the former Indian National Cricket Team and Baroda batsman recently met with a car accident and is currently in the hospital, Yusuf Pathan revealed in Twitter.

The 46-year-old has played 10 One-Day Internationals for India between 1999 and 2001. He scored a total of 158 runs at an average of 22.57, with the highest score of 39. The right-handed batsman, who bowled a bit of leg spin as well, made his debut against West Indies in Toronto in 1999. He had scored 1000 runs in the Ranji Trophy season that year which was instrumental in him sealing a place in the Indian squad.

He played 138 first-class matches, mainly for Baroda and partially for Railways, scoring 9192 runs at 46.65. Jacob Martin shifted his base to Railways in the 2002-03 domestic season but returned to his home state again to play for four more seasons. However, due to some selection issues, he announced his retirement in the middle of the 2007-08 season only to revert his decision and feature in the next edition. He retired from the game towards the end of 2009.

Jacob Martin was also the coach of Baroda during the 2016-17 edition of the Ranji Trophy. In addition to, Yusuf Pathan made his first-class debut under the leadership of Jacob Martin.

Yusuf took to Twitter to inform the news of his accident; however, the nature of his accident is still unknown. The all-rounder also wished Martin a speedy recovery.
