Former SA seamer Alfonso Thomas appointed Delhi’s fast bowling coach
One T20 international in a career of 248 wickets in 214 domestic T20s, the 38 year old Alfonso Thomas who was a part of the Pune Warriors in the previous seasons is now back in IPL as a coach to one of the strongest teams in IPL in Delhi Daredevils.
Thomas who has played in different countries in different leagues with different teams has huge experience in this format and is hired on a short term basis to work with the pace bowlers.
World Cup winning coach Gary Kirsten said that he was happy to see Thomas sing for the team and hoped that he would give his players valuable advice from his experience which would help them in this season of the IPL.
Thomas said that he enjoyed playing in the IPL and that he is very excited to be a part of it. He said that the team has a mixture of bowlers to work with and that he can’t wait to share and learn from this bunch of players.
He added that all his experience in various leagues all around the world have taught him that doing the basics is what gets him out of trouble.
DD who play their first match against CSK has many players who Alfonso is familiar with. He said that it would be easy to blend in with them and that he will do everything to help the whole team lift the trophy this season.
