In the last home season, the left-arm spinner was in the squad but was not given a place in the final XI. He had a chance to feature in one of the Test matches but unluckily, Kuldeep Yadav got injured.
Talking about his credentials, he has picked 24 wickets in six Test matches. He has also two four-wicket hauls and two five-wicket hauls. The premier spinner needs to be given chances to represent the Test team.
Therefore, it was right to test his credibility against a tough competitor like New Zealand.
