Fully Fit Kedar Jadhav Shocked After Not Being Named In India Squad For Windies ODIs 1

Kedar Jadhav, on Thursday, expressed his surprise as well as disappointment over not being included in the India squad for the last three ODIs against Windies.

India’s selection panel announced the squad for the remainder of the five-match series against Windies. But to everyone’s surprise, Kedar Jadhav did not get a place in the 15-man squad. .

Jadhav was drafted into the India A side midway into the Deodhar Trophy as the selectors made it clear that he was in the scheme of things. During the announcement of the squad for the first two games, chief of selectors MSK Prasad had said Jadhav would be the part of the rest of the series. At that time, he had pointed out that fitness was the only issue.

Consequently, Jadhav underwent a fitness test at the NCA in Bengaluru before scoring 41 off 25 balls for NCA. But surprisingly, the selectors left him out. And as expected, Jadhav is stumped by the decision.

“I did not know this,” said Jadhav when asked if there was any communication over his selection for the remaining three games against the West Indies.

“Let’s see. You are the first one to tell me this. I need to see why they have not picked me. I don’t know what the plan is now that I am not there in the team. Probably, I will be playing the Ranji Trophy,” he added.

The latest comments are bound to pile more pressure on the selection panel who have been accused of not communicating properly by Murali Vijay and Karun Nair.

Jadhav further gave an update on his rehabilitation before expressing his disappointment over the injury.

“Rehab was good. I passed all the tests and came here match fit. It is all fine. Obviously, it hurts when you are in form and get injured. It creates uncertainty on when you will get the next opportunity. And when you comeback, you have to start from scratch again as you end up missing a lot of matches. It hurts but you have to accept it and move on,” he said.

Meanwhile, India have included Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah in the squad while axing Mohammed Shami. India lead the five-match series 1-0.
