The Gabba Introduces The Coolest Seat In The World To Attract Crowd 1
The Gabba introduces the infinity pool deck to attract crowds

Cricket Australia has come up with an unusual way to attract crowds to Test cricket as the interest in watching Tests is decreasing. CA has built a 32,000-litre infinity pool deck at the Brisbane Cricket Ground in the hope of increasing the numbers in stands.

No sooner than the infinity pool deck at the Gabba made a debut, the pool can be considered as the coolest seat in the world.

“It’s a first for cricket, it’s a first to have a pool deck at the cricket. It’s a real fan-engagement type of idea, to give them something else to come along and enjoy the cricket with” said a Cricket Australia Spokesman.

Understanding the need to shift from traditional to modern, Australia has been encouraging more day-night Test cricket and the pool is made keeping that in mind.

The objective is to keep the fans engaged, a practice best seen in the NBA and other American Leagues. Much to the joy of the crowd the authority has made the pool equally accessible to everybody.

“People just wear the best beach attire or swimwear and they will just be chosen at random from among the crowd to come onto the pool deck.”

There will be two sessions in a day where the spotters will pick people who are dressed in beachwear and Hawaiian shirts from the crowd and they will get to spend three and a half hours on the pool deck. Adding to it, the view from the pool is uninterrupted.

“No seats below with protruding heads. The orientation is square to the wicket, with the scoreboard looming in the background beyond”

Apart from the pool, there is another initiative which has been taken for the Brisbane test which is the “Twilight pass”. The twilight pass allows one to come to the last two sessions of the game at a reduced price.
