Ever since Mumbai Indians lifted their 4th IPL title after defeating the Chennai Super Kings by 1 run, there has been a widespread discussion on why Rohit Sharma isn’t the skipper of the Indian limited-overs side despite being the most successful IPL skipper in the history of the tournament.

Even in his brief captaincy tenure for India, he has impressed one and all. Rohit Sharma should be a strong candidate for India’s captaincy. Former Indian batsman and a KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir feel that according to IPL leadership, Rohit Sharma definitely deserves to be at the Indian skipper.

“I think he is probably right up there. He has won four IPL trophies and if you talk about IPL cricket he is the most successful captain. He captained the team in Asia Cup and won it so not only as an option he is probably next to Virat Kohli, “Gautam Gambhir said on Wednesday on the sidelines of a promotional event.

Rohit Sharma has been sensational as a leader for India in he limited opportunities and has led India is as many as 10 matches and have led them to 8 victories. Despite Rohit Sharma’s good run as a skipper Virat Kohli also have a great record as a skipper of the Indian side. He has led India in 65 matches and has led them to 49 victories.

The record of Virat Kohli as a skipper of the Indian T20I side is a bit lower than Rohit Sharma. Virat Kohli has led India to 12 victories in 22 matches. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma led India to a series victory in the Asia Cup when India fielded a 2nd string side.
