Sep 14, 2016 at 11:42 AM
Gautam Gambhir has led India Blue from the front in the ongoing Duleep Trophy. He has scored massively at the top order and helped his team to pile huge runs on their way to final. Currently playing the final against India Red, Gambhir’s side are the favourites to clinch the trophy after taking a 337-runs lead in the first innings.
Speaking to bcci.tv, the southpaw gave his views on various topics.
Excerpts:
On the brilliant start to the new season:
Obviously, any first class game you play before the season especially three four-day games, because you hardly get any four-day games, so obviously it is an ideal preparation and once you start scoring runs before the season, you get into the season with a lot of confidence.
On pink ball:
I think we have been talking too much about the pink ball and stuff. Different people have different opinions. The more you think about it, you start getting into negative things. Ultimately, it is another Kookaburra ball. A red ball or a pink ball, you have to put your efforts into it. It is my personal observation that a pink ball behaves exactly the same as a red ball. So we should not think too much about it since only the colour has changed.
On his India Blue opening partner Mayank Agarwal:
He is a quality player. I think he is a young player, hopefully, he can keep learning and keep playing. I have already said that he has got a great future. Hopefully, he will get into the season with this confidence. He keeps on asking questions which is a great sign for a young player and hopefully he can learn a lot from this tournament.
