Gautam Gambhir is known for his straight-forward nature. And the out of favour Indian batsman has given another statement which is bound to create a stir among the fans. Following the terrorist attacks on Indian soldiers, the southpaw took to Twitter to say that these martyrs deserve a biopic rather than any cricketer.
The current year has seen biopics being made on several cricketers. And the biopic of Indian skipper MS Dhoni titled ‘M.S.Dhoni-The Untold Story’ is one of the most anticipated movies of this year. The Sushant Singh Rajput starrer movie, which is scheduled to hit the theatres September 30, traces the journey of the India’s most successful captain of all time, who fought against all the odds and crossed numerous hurdles to play for his country. Dhoni’s journey from a T.C. in Indian Railways to the pinnacle of world cricket is the base of the movie.
Biopics on cricketers have earlier been made on Mohammad Azharuddin, named “Azhar” that was released early this year. A biopic on legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, “Sachin: A Billion Dreams” is also being made.
Clearly not a fan of biopics on cricketers, Gambhir had earlier said:“Not at all, I don’t believe in biopics on cricketers.I think those people, who have contributed more to the country than the cricketers, deserve a biopic. There are lots of people in the country who have done so many noble deeds for the nation. Therefore biopics should be made on their lives.”
And now the cricketer has expressed his reservations once again. Saddened by the terrorist attack, after some militants attacked an Indian Army brigade headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri on Sunday and killed 17 soldiers, the Indian batsman took to Twitter to post the following message.
These 17 martyrs deserv a biopic rather dan any cricketer. No better inspiration dan a young man sacrificing his life 4 his country.

Well, we clearly respect Gambhir’s views but the message might be a dig towards MS Dhoni. The Indian skipper shared a turbulent relationship with Gambhir and after being dropped from the Indian team in 2014, there have been several incidents which prove that all is not well between the two star cricketers.
