Gatuam Gambhir said that the spinners will decide the fate of India versus New Zealand test series starting from 22nd September in Green Park Stadium, Kanpur.
Both teams have good quality spinners and it depend upon them how the series pans out. The Indian team have Ashwin, Mishra and Jadeja.
“New Zealand has always been a very gritty kind of a side. They have always been underdogs, no one rates them very highly but they have always done well in every conditions,” Gambhir told reporters here today.
“They have got a good squad. They have got three spinners (in Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi and Mark Craig) and spinners of whichever sides bowl well it will eventually decide the series,” Gambhir said on the sidelines of the launch of a talent hunt programme, Indian Junior Players League (IJPL), of which he is the brand ambassador.
The Indian team have good quality spinners and they Indian batsmen need to play good quality cricket against their spinners. Last time in the T20 World Cup India struggled against Ish Sodhi and Mitchell Santer which led to their downfall.
New Zealand team will be looking to win their first series victory in India. Spinners will dictate the series.
Ashwin, Jadeja and Mishra have been in good form. The pitches for the test series will help the spinners and whichever team spinners bowl well putting pressure on the opponents batsmen will come out winner.
