The swashbuckling opener from Delhi, Gautam Gambhir has given many good memories to cherish for the Indian fans. His match-winning knock of 97 runs after losing two early wickets in 2011 World Cup final against Sri Lanka at Mumbai is etched in everybody’s heart.
Over a good span of time, Gambhir has opened the innings and has played some magical knocks to provide India with good starts. With more than 10000 runs across all the formats, Gambhir has been a great server of Indian cricket.

After taking over captaincy role of the Kolkata Knight Riders, a franchise based team in the Indian Premier League (IPL), his game got to a new high as he led his team from the front to two successful campaigns. Gambhir’s determination to win the game and his captaincy skills grabbed the eyes of all the cricketing fans.
Yesterday Suresh Raina celebrated his 31st birthday, and Gambhir was late to wish him. However, he made it up with a funny tweet as he wrote, “Belated happy birthday @ImRaina…some match situations require even opening batsmen to ‘bat’ lower down in d batting order, hence d delay buddy!!! Hope u had a smashing one.”
