On Wednesday, Australia national cricket team coach Darren Lehmann gave warning stand-in captain George Bailey to score runs in his bid to fix his position in the One Day International (ODI) team.

George Bailey will going to be the vice-captain for the International Cricket Council World Cup 2015 if injured captain Michael Clarke becomes healthy to play, but the former’s batting form will play the pivotal role in getting him a place in the team, who has not scored more than 25 runs in his last 7 One Day Internationals (ODI).

Lehmann was quoted as saying by news.com.au: “George (Bailey) needs to make runs like everyone else in the side.

The selectors will sit down and work out what the best side is when they are fit and available. George like everyone else will have to play well to play the final 11. There is no difference between the top player and the 15th player.

We are a squad and one thing I know about World Cups is that you need a squad to win it.”

The coach also said that the team selectors are going to place the best possible team which does not necessarily mean that top players will be part of it. Darren Lehmann was a member of Australia’s World Cup-winning side in 1999 and 2003.
