George Bailey Ruled Out Of Sri Lanka Practice Match 1

George Bailey has been ruled out of the Prime Minister’s XI squad for the only practice game against Sri Lanka, which the visitors will play before the start of the three-match T20I series. Bailey aggravated his hamstring and buttock injury in a Sheffield Shield game against Western Australia and will not be fit in time for the T20 game.

All-rounder Hilton Cartwright, who made his Test debut against Pakistan earlier this year, has been called as his replacement.

“While it’s disappointing to lose George through injury, this is another exciting opportunity for Hilton, following his Test debut earlier this summer.

“Hilton comes into the game in strong form after impressing with the bat in Western Australia’s Sheffield Shield win against Tasmania, and we hope he can continue his form for the Prime Minister’s XI against Sri Lanka,” said Greg Chappell, the interim selector Australian cricket team.

Sri Lanka will tour Australia for the three-match T20I series with the first game to be played on February 17 at Melbourne. The next two games will be played in Victoria and Adelaide.
