The newly-appointed Australian selection committee led by Trevor Hohns have called up Zimbabwe born Hilton Cartwright to the ODI squad for the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy against New Zealand.

Cartwright, the Western Australia all-rounder, made his List A debut in 2012 and has played 27 games so far. He has scored 636 runs and has taken 12 wickets so far. Backing his selection in the team, Hohns said, “Hilton bowls useful aggressive medium-pace and is a very good striker of the ball. He is an exciting young prospect for Australian cricket and we have been watching him at the pathway level for some time now.”

Pat Cummins, who last played an ODI in 2015, has also made a comeback in the totally revamped squad. Glenn Maxwell, who was dropped from last two ODI series too, has also been named in the squad for the three ODIs.

“It is fantastic to see Pat back in Australian colours again, it has been a frustrating period for him but we are certainly excited to have him fit and firing ahead of this series,” concluded Hohns.

The three-match series starts from December 4 with the first match will played at the SCG.
