Former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin’s son Asaduddin is roped as a professional player by Goa for the upcoming Ranji Trophy season. Thus, the 28-year old star kid is one of the professional players in the state team.
Meanwhile, it is well known the state teams try to draft experienced players in the domestic circuit. However, the 28-year-old selection from Hyderabad raises questions as the batsman has never featured in Ranji Trophy.
Asaduddin will look to prove his mettle.
In fact, the last time when Asaduddin played for a state team was way back in 2009 when he played for Hyderabad Colts XI. Furthermore, he came to Uttar Pradesh in 2014. However, he did not make the cut in the playing XI of the side.
Meanwhile, as Goa has shown the exit doors to some of the senior players in the side. Thus, it opened up the opportunity when he approached the State team.
Asadudddin revealed he was part of the IPL Auctions as well.
“I was part of the IPL auctions too but did not get picked. I was playing well on the local circuit and approached a few associations. That’s how it happened,” Asaduddin told Sportstar on Tuesday evening.
Azharuddin’s son went on to add that as he was not getting his opportunity to play in Hyderabad, thus he approached Goa.
“I did not get an opportunity to play from Hyderabad. So, whoever gives me a chance, I will play. And with all sorts of problems in the HCA, I don’t see a chance,” Asaduddin said.
He said that his father is a happy man after his selection. Asad also understands it is a big opportunity for him to make the most of it.
“My dad is really happy for me. This is a big opportunity for me. I will try to give my best in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy,” Asaduddin said.
Asaduddin will look to impress with the bat for Goa in the upcoming season and grab his chances in the state team.
