Former South Africa wicket keeper Marks Boucher walked down the aisle today. The marriage was a low key affair and not many were aware of the fact. The 40-year-old is remembered as the most successful wicket keeper in South African cricket’s history. The news is absolutely delightful as the cricketer now prepares for a completely new life experience after eventful cricketing career.

Former South African skipper and close friend Graeme Smith delivered a cheerful message to his former teammate on a special day. Fans can thank him for revealing the news on social media.

Smith tweeted: Having a cracking wedding day @markb46 sorry I’m not there at 1st slip to help you #boucherwedding

In the amusing message, Smith promptly referred his in field partnership with Boucher. The wicket keeper formed a successful partnership behind the wickets with Smith who acted as the regular slip fielder for the Proteas.

Both the cricketers are currently retired and left behind a legacy for their successor to follow. While Smith ended as the most successful captain in South African cricket’s history, Boucher departed with the most number of dismissal in cricketing history – 999 to be precise.

But, the cricketing world will remember Boucher for a very sad and unfortunate way.

The cricketer was forced to retire after he suffered a bad eye injury during a practice game in 2012. In the game against Somerset before the start of the Test series against England, Boucher was struck in his left eye by a bail which was dislodged by leg spinner Imran Tahir google which bowled Gemaal Hussain.

He was ruled out of the series and underwent two surgeries. The outcome of the surgeries were limited and complete vision could not be restored, Boucher retired from cricket aged 35.
