Greg Chappell’s Tenure As Australia Selector And Team Manager Ending This Month

Greg Chappell tenure of Australia’s selector and team manager will end on 30th September. The former Skipper has long served his country as a captain, coach and supporting staff. Graham Manou will replace Chappell, Cricket Australia (CA) informed through a press release.

Manou has served for three years on the post of pathway manager. He will get the expanded role of national talent and pathway manager. But the Cricket board will have to find a replacement for national selectors. Greg Chappell, in his 14 years international career, played 87 Test and 74 ODIs for Australia. He also served as the captain of Australia from 1975-1977. Chappell was also the coach of India from 2005-2007.

Manou only played one Test match and four ODIs in his international career and will now take the responsibility of national talent manager.

Cricket Australia’s CEO Kevin Robert praised Chappell’s contribution to Australia.

“Greg has had a profound and positive impact on cricket for generations. Greg was one of the finest players in the history of international cricket. Additionally, as a captain, coach, selector and mentor, Greg has been a true pioneer and innovator.”

Earl Eddings, Chairman of Cricket Australia, said that everyone will remember Greg’s talent and hard work.

“Everyone acknowledges that few have shaped the game of cricket as Greg has through the years. We will be forever grateful for his service and wish him well in retirement.”

Greg Chappell was surrounded by controversy when he was the coach of India. He had a rift with Sourav Ganguly when he was the captain of the team. Chappell’s tenure as Indian coach just ended in two years.
