ToggleGT vs SRH highlights: Gujarat Titans (GT), on Sunday (March 31), thrashed Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets in the 12th match of the ongoing IPL 2024 to get back to winning ways. Set a target of 163, the Titans crossed the finishing line in the very final over.
Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill added 36 runs for the first wicket with the former scoring 25 of those runs. Shahbaz Ahmed dismissed Saha in the fifth over to give SRH the much-needed first breakthrough. It was followed by a 38-run stand between Gill and Sai Sudharsan. Mayank Markande broke the stand by dismissing Gill for 36.
The big breakthrough, however, did not help SRH much as David Miller and Sudharsan all but sealed the game for their team by adding 64 runs for the third wicket. Pat Cummins broke the stand by sending back Sudharsan for 45 before Miller and Vijay Shankar shared an unbeaten 30-run stand to help GT cross the finishing line in the final over.
GT vs SRH: SRH innings
Earlier in the game, GT restricted SRH to 162/8 after the latter won the toss and opted to bat first. SRH’s last game’s heroes – Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen – got the starts once again but could not convert them into big scores as the team failed to touch the 200-run mark for the first time this season.
Opener Mayank Agarwal failed once again and was the first to depart. He scored 16 runs before being dismissed by Azmatullah Omarzai in the fifth over. Head, who scored an 18-ball hundred in the last game, could only score 19 before being castled by Noor Ahmed as SRH found themselves reeling at 58 for 2.
Abhishek, who scored a 16-ball fifty in the last game against Mumbai Indians, started on a positive note by smashing Rashid Khan for two sixes. However, he too did not last long and was dismissed by Mohit Sharma for 29.
Klaasen joined Aiden Markram in the middle in the 10th over with SRH on 74 for 3. The South Africa duo took the score past the 100-run mark as Klaasen looked in good touch once again. However, Klaasen failed to convert his start into a big score. The right-handed batsman had raced away 24 runs off 12 balls before being undone by Rashid Khan.
Six runs later, Markram departed as well to leave his team five down for 114. Abdul Samad then came up with a fine cameo of 29 runs from 14 balls to help SRH cross the 150-run mark. Shahbaz Ahmed also played a crucial 22-run knock. For GT, Mohit Sharma was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 for 25.
