Hailakandi Youth Arrested For Wearing Pakistani Jersey During A Cricket Match 1
Hailakandi youth arrested for wearing paksitani jersey

A youth, who is a big fan of former Pakistan skipper Shaid Afridi, was arrested after participating in a cricket match wearing Pakistani jersey at Hailakandi. The youth Ripon Chowdhury participated in the cricket match at the District Sports Association Playground.

A FIR was launched against Ripon Chowdhury by the local Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha committee as they termed it as an anti-national task. The youth was taken into custody by the District Police on Saturday and the court had sent him to jail.

Ripon stated the reason behind wearing the Pakistani Jersey and participating in the match was his fondness for Shahid Afridi. However, the Yuva Morcha feels there is an anti-national mindset behind it and strong investigation can only reveal the mystery.

The controversy seems quite similar to an incident in Pakistan earlier this year when police had arrested a Virat Kohli fan in January.

Umar Draz, a lad from Okara in Punjab province, was taken into custody for hoisting India’s flag at his home as a tribute to Virat Kohli.

Draz said he was unaware of the crime he committed and hoisted India’s flag just because of Virat Kohli. It was an act which was provoked by his love for the Indian cricketer.
