Harbhajan Singh Clarifies That He Has no Intentions of Joining Politics in the Near Future on Vote Day
Veteran Indian off-spinner who is no longer in the radar for national selection, Harbhajan Singh cast his vote today with him being one of the very first cricketers to do so. He exercised his duty at the Garhi Village in Jalandhar in Punjab. It was the 7th and final phase of the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. The off-spinner who played a role for Chennai Super Kings in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL), was seen standing in a queue in the pooling both. After casting his vote,, the off-spinner also urged others to not miss an opportunity to exercise their franchise.
He further ended speculations and revealed that he has no intentions of joining politics in the near future. “There are too many seasoned people in the politics. So I have no plan,” he said. Reports a few days earlier claimed that Harbhajan Singh was being contacted by BJP to stand for the Amritsar Lok Sabha Constituency Rate in the state.
Currently, the Jalandhar constituency consists of Shiromani Akali Dal, leader Charanjit Singh Atwal, Santokh Singh Chaudhary who are of Congress and Jora Singh happens to be of Aam Admi Party (AAP).
Meanwhile, it wasn’t too long ago when Harbhajan Singh came in defence of Gautam Gambhir who has recently turned politician and will contest as a BJP candidate from the Delhi East seat. The former Indian World Cup hero Gambhir had a heated exchange with rival AAP Atishi. As per reports she had accused Gambhir of holding two different voter ID cards and also circulated pamphlets with a derogatory message for her.
I am shocked to note (the) events involving Gautam Gambhir. I know him well and he can never talk ill of any woman. Whether he wins or loses is another matter but the man is above all this,” he said.
