Harbhajan Singh Lavishes Praise On Virat Kohli For 30th ODI Century
Continuing his red-hot form this year with the bat, Virat Kohli scored his second successive century to power India to a thumping 6-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the fifth and final One-Day International in Colombo on Sunday (September 3).
Chasing a modest 239, India were in a spot of bother after being reduced to 17 for and later to 29 for 2 with both of their openers- Ajinkya Rahane and the in-form Rohit Sharma back in the pavilion. However, Kohli took charge from there on and along with Manish Pandey steadied the ship with a 99-run stand. But just when the duo was breathing it easy, Malinda Pushpakumara accounted for Pandey to leave India in a tricky situation.

But the in-form Kohli held firm from one end and looked at utmost ease against the Sri Lankan bowlers. And during the course of his innings, the India captain achieved two incredible milestones. Kohli not only became the first player to cross the 1000-run mark in ODIs in 2017, he also equalled Ricky Ponting’s record of 30 ODI centuries. Kohli is now only behind Sachin Tendulkar in the list of most centuries in the 50-over format. Kohli’s record has been truly unprecedented as he has amassed his 30 centuries in only 194 games while Ponting scored the same number of centuries in 375 games.
And after Kohli reached the three-digit mark, veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh took to Twitter to heap lavish praise on the Indian stat.
“Sabash tere shera @imVkohli 30th ODI ?TON ✅,” the spinner tweeted.

Meanwhile, Kohli was well-supported by Kedar Jadhav who scored 63 as India chased down the total with more than 3 overs to spare to inflict an whitewash on the hosts.
Earlier in the game, Bhuvneshwar Kumar wreaked havoc with the ball, taking 5 for 42 to help the Men in Blue restrict the islanders for just 238. Lahiru Thirimanne top-scored for the hosts with 67.
