Following MS Dhoni’s retirement from Tests, there were huge apprehensions over who would fill in the huge void left by the star wicketkeeper. Bengal wicketkeeper, who just like the other wicketkeepers in the country had got very limited chances to play for India, was given the responsibility of wicketkeeper-batsman. And after almost two years after that decision, one can say that Saha has justified the team management’s immense faith in him.
The Bengal wicketkeeper has become a very important part of the new-looking Indian Test team led by the dynamic Virat Kohli. One of the most technically-sound wicketkeepers in the country, Saha’s ability to contribute useful runs with the bat lower down the order has made Kohli rate the wicketkeeper very highly. Saha has scored 684 runs in 18 Tests which includes four half-centuries and one hundred that he scored on the recent tour of West Indies.
Well, it is not only Kohli who rates Saha very highly as Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has called Saha the best wicketkeeper in the world right now. The gloveman was celebrating his 32nd birthday yesterday and the Indian cricket fraternity made sure to wish him.
Happy birthday @Wriddhipops Best wicket keeper in the world.. have a good one.. god bless
