Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has lashed out at Shahid Afridi who has put out some controversial remarks against India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The veteran spinner didn’t shy to speaking against Afridi, saying that the former Pakistani cricketer should remain within his ‘limits’.
In Afridi’s viral video on social media, he has compared Narendra Modi’s mind as ‘worse than coronavirus’. He also passed comment on the political issue between the two countries, claiming that the major part of Indians in Kashmir support the Pakistani army.
Now, the 40-year-old is being criticized widely on a public platform. Harbhajan Singh, who has donated to Shahid Afridi’s COVID-19 fund, has also gone against him.
Replying to Afridi’s remark, he said that he had contributed to Afridi’s fund irrespective to the two countries rivalries, but his outburst against India and PM Modi is unacceptable.
“This is very upsetting what Shahid Afridi has come up with, talking ill about our country and our Prime Minister. This is just not acceptable,” Harbhajan Singh told India Today.
“To be honest, he (Adridi) asked us to make an appeal for his charity. In good faith, we did it for humanity and for the people suffering due to the Coronavirus,” he added.
“Even our Prime Minister has said that Coronavirus is a fight that extends beyond borders, religions and caste. So we were very clear with the cause that we were promoting, which was simply to help those in crisis.
“But this man (Afridi) is talking ill about our country. All I have to say is we have nothing to do with Shahid Afridi. He has no right to speak ill against our country and he should stay in his country and limits,” Harbhajan thundered.
Earlier, Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh were criticised for their contribution to Shahid Afridi’s COVID-19 fund. Fans were against them for donating to the rival nation.
