Harbhajan Singh still keen on doing well for India, says his role is same as it was 5 years back
Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh is determined to do well for India in the upcoming test series against Bangladesh, scheduled to start on 10th June.
The turbinator will be making his comeback to the senior side after a gap of 2 years and has stressed on the fact that his role in the team is still the same as it was 5 years back.
Harbhajan said: “My role is same in the team as it was 5-7 years back. We need to work as a unit. All the four bowlers need to back each other.
“When it comes to goal, it was same when I was playing alongside Anil Kumble and Amit Mishra. It is to help each other in winning games,”
Continuing on the prospects of playing alongside fellow off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, Harbhajan explained how he would do anything to help Team India get victory in the upcoming Test series.
Harbhajan said: “Our main job is to win games for Team India and working and bowling with him will always be a good.
“Both of us are trying to win games for India.
“We are going there as a team and as a team we need to push everyone together and in one direction to win the game.”
Many had written off Harbhajan’s career when he was dropped back in 2013 following the home series against Australia, but the gritty off-spinner never had any doubts about making a comeback to the senior team.
Bhajji (fondly know) claimed, he always knew that this day would eventually come when he will be playing for his country again.
Bhajji said: “Last two years, I have been out of the team, but I always had that in my mind that I am going to make a comeback and obviously I have been bowling well whenever I have got the opportunities at whatever level I have played.
The comeback was always in my mind and that’s what I was playing cricket for,”
Harbhajan currently stands at 413 test wickets and needs just 2 more wickets to go pass Wasim Akram in the list of all-time highest test wicket takers.
