Want to be a professional cricketer?
Former Indian batsman VVS Laxman has heaped praise on his ex-teammate, Harbhajan Singh. Laxman wrote in his Twitter post that Harbhajan never buckled under pressure and personal setbacks. In fact, Harbhajan loved facing the challenges head-on and he was known to take the bull by its horns. There were no double thoughts in off-spinners’ game and he always wanted to be in the contest.
Bhajji was never known to back down and he was able to deliver the goods for the national side. In fact, the Turbanator had found himself in challenging situations on many occasions but he kept going strong and made the most of the talent.
Harbhajan Singh had great skills
The veteran off-spinner is one of India’s best spinners as he scalped 417 wickets in 103 Test matches at an average of 32.46. The Punjab spinner also snared 269 wickets in 236 ODI matches at an average of 33.36.
Meanwhile, we all remember VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid’s role in the famous Kolkata Test win. Harbhajan had also made a huge contribution in the same match as he took 13 wickets in the game and also took a hat-trick to become the first Indian Test bowler to do so.
Laxman added that Harbhajan was able to channelize his aggression in the right direction. VVS said the off-spinner held his own at the highest level for 15 long years.
Laxman wrote in his tweet, “Another person could easily have buckled under the string of personal and professional setbacks that marked the early part of his career. Channelizing potential frustration into unbridled aggression, @harbhajan_singh held his own at the highest level for a decade and a half”.
