Over the last week, Hardik Pandya—the Team India all-rounder has grabbed the headlines alongside his teammate KL Rahul, for all the wrong reasons. However, Pandya’s father Himanshu revealed his son didn’t step out of his house since he has returned from Australia.
“Ever since he has returned from Australia, he has not stepped out of the house. He is also not taking any calls… he is just taking rest,” Hardik’s father Himanshu was quoted as saying by Mid-day.
Hardik Pandya didn’t celebrate Makar Sankranti:
Himanshu also maintained Pandya did not even celebrate Makar Sankranti—the festival which marks the transit of sun for the longer days. He added the Baroda-based cricketer is fond of flying the kites. But this time around he has given it a skip amid rising tensions.
“It’s a festival… a public holiday in Gujarat, but Hardik did not fly any kites. He loves flying kites. But his busy cricketing schedule never allowed him to be at home during this festival over the last few years. This time, he had a chance to fly kites, but because of the adverse situation, there was no mood to celebrate the festival,” Himanshu added.
Pertinently, Pandya was replaced by Tamil Nadu-based 27-year-old all-rounder Vijay Shankar for the limited-overs competition. However, Himanshu revealed Pandya watched the second game of the ongoing three-match One-day International (ODI) series.
“He watched the match (India vs Australia 2nd ODI),” Himanshu said.
After sharing the couch with Rahul for the most-watched show ‘Koffee with Karan’, Pandya draw flak for his misogynist remarks on women which eventually led his immediate exclusion from the Indian squad for series Down Under.
Hardik Pandya is sad:
It has been a hard week for Pandya. The promising cricketer stand suspended alongside Rahul for the indefinite period following the ‘sexist’ and ‘racist’ remarks.
“He is very disappointed with the suspension and repents the views he expressed on the TV show. He don’t want to repeat the same mistake,” Himanshu said.
Pandya alongside Rahul has had extended an apology for their unacceptable comments. which further hurt the public sentiments during a TV show. However, Himanshu remarked they are waiting for the Board’s decision.
“We have decided not to talk to him on this subject. Even his elder brother Krunal [Pandya] has not discussed anything about the episode with him. We are waiting for the BCCI’s decision,” he concluded.
Earlier, following the misconduct, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has sought an explanation from the duo. So far, the mixed reaction from the netizens has pushed the Board to take stern action.
