India all-rounder Hardik Pandya hogged the limelight as he smashed an unbeaten 158 for Reliance 1 against BPCL in the semifinal of the ongoing DY Patil T20 Cup. It was only recently he slammed a 37-ball hundred — in the competition and the right-handed batsman went about his business and scored 158 runs off just 55 balls.
Pandya brought up his century in style off 39 deliveries with a scintillating six over mid-on region.
Previously, BPCL won the toss and opted to field in the final and their gameplan turned out well early on in the game as they sent back the Reliance 1 openers cheaply.
However, Pandya had other ideas in mind. He took the bowling attack to cleaners with sensational hitting.
The all-rounder smashed bowlers all around the park with relative ease. During his blitzkrieg, he smashed as many as 20 towering sixes apart from hitting six fours – to his lofty standards of punching and counter-punching techniques.
His mind-boggling knock helped Reliance 1 post a huge total of 238 in the allotted quota of 20 overs.
It is worth mentioning here that this massive knock of 158 is also the highest score by an Indian in a T20 exhibition game.
Previously, the ever-so-talented Shreyas Iyer held the record of the highest individual score by an Indian batsman in T20 with a whopping 147 while playing for Mumbai against Sikkim in their Group C match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy tournament.
Hardik Pandya warms up during the game with bizarre exercise:
It is tough to stop Pandya when he gets going. Just like Virat Kohli, Pandya is an animated character on the cricket field and he showed some glimpses of it on the match day. Besides entertaining the fans with some brutal hitting he came up with a bizarre exercise while batting.
Such type of incident happened during the 17th over of the game when he was batting on 85.
All of a sudden, the big-hitting all-rounder Pandya decided to do some stretch and ended up doing a bizarre exercise that took the cricket fraternity by surprise.
