The Indian T20I skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has been charged with a breach of Code of Conduct during the WBBL game between Sydney Thunder and Hobart Hurricanes on January 16.

The incident happened in the 14th over of the game when Kaur was dismissed on a score of six after being caught by Veronica Pyke.

She was found violating CA’s Code of Conduct Article 2.1.2 in regards to “abuse of cricket equipment of clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a match”, which is presumed to the level 1 offence. Kaur accepted the charge and no official hearing was conducted for the same.

The charge was laid down by match referee Roy Loh and a written report was submitted to the umpires Muhammad Qureshi and Harvey Wolff’s, as per the CA’s Code of Conduct procedure.

Harmanpreet Kaur is the first Indian women cricketer to be signed by a Big Bash League Franchise before Smriti Mandhana, who was roped in by Brisbane Heat became the second Indian women cricketer.

However, Mandhana has now been pulled out of the league due to a knee injury. Kaur is also set to return to the country to take part in the training camp for World Cup qualifiers tournament that will be played in Sri Lanka in the month of February.
