Indian Women’s T20 squad for the upcoming series against West Indies in November and The Asia Cup Championship which is scheduled to take place in November-December has been announced. Harmanpreet Kaur gets the nod to captain the Indian women’s team for both the tournaments. Harmanpreet has previous experiences as the captain of the women’s team. India won their fifth title under the captaincy of Harmanpreet beating Pakistan back in 2012.
But there was no change in captaincy in the ODI team as Mithali Raj has retains her spot as captain. The Board of Control for Cricket In India (BCCI) announced the squad on Saturday that will host the West Indies.
India plays the West Indies in a three game ODI series and a three game T20 series which would be tough encounter for the hosts. All the games are scheduled for November 10 and 22 after which the t20 side will travel to Thailand to play the Asia cup championship under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur. The Asia Cup championship will go on until the 5th of December.
There has been some interesting call ups for the ODI series against the Caribbean. One of which is 23 year old Bengal pacer Sukanya Parida who picked up two wickets in India red’s triumph in the Senior Women’s Challenger Trophy at Vadodara. Mona Meshram’s impressive performance in the Senior Women’s One Day League has earned her a comeback spot as she last played in 2013 against Bangladesh. The batter from Vidarbha scored a total of 225 runs in the league and emerged as the third highest run getter. The seventh highest run getter in the league, Maharashtra’s Devika Vaidya has also been picked up to play against the West Indies.
Nuzhat Parween is set to replace Sushma Verma as the wicketkeeper in the T20 leg of the West Indies Series however Sushma keeps her spot for the Asia Cup Championships. Nuzhat’s performance for the India Green has been more than impressive due to which she has been called up. Uncapped opener S Meghana also earns her spot along with Mansi Joshi for the west Indies T20’s and Asia Cup. Off spinner Preeti Bose also gets her debut call up as Deepti Sharma who has been a part of India’s ICC world T20 squad retains her spot.
