India women’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur has been fined 75% of her match fees and also got 4 demerit points added to her record for her outburst against the umpires during the third and final ODI against Bangladesh women in Dhaka on July 22, 2023.
The third one-day international, which took place in Dhaka at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium, was expected to be a thrilling contest because the series was tied at one game each. The contest did not disappoint as it was tied at the very end.
The two teams split the series, but some of the game’s events grabbed all the attention.
During the Indian innings, Harmanpreet Kaur attempted to sweep a fullish delivery but was given out for LBW. The Indian captain, though, disagreed with the umpire’s decision. She smashed the stumps with her bat to let out her rage.
The 34-year-old was spotted speaking animatedly to the umpire as she was leaving the field, and during the post-match awards ceremony, she openly criticized the umpiring, calling it “pathetic.”

Now, as per report in Cricbuzz, the Indian captain is going to land in hot water after her antics and the ICC is set to fine her 75% of her match fees and will have four demerit points added to her record. The report states that match referee Akhtar Ahmed has adjudged Kaur’s actions as a Level 2 offense.
“For the on-field incident (smashing the wicket) she will be fined 50 percent of her match fee while for the way she represented herself her in the presentation ceremony, she will be fined 25 percent of her match fee,” report stated.
Out of the three demerit points that Harmanpreet Kaur will receive, two will be for her on-field actions after her dismissal, while one will be sanctioned for her open criticism of the level of umpiring in the presentation ceremony.
