Harsha Bhogle Labels the Pre-Ashes Banters as ‘Childish’

As the world prepares for the mega battle between two of the most celebrated sides in world cricket, Australia and England, the battle off the field is already underway.
However, when the two teams take the field on Thursday, they will look to outdo one another with their performances on the field.
But from all the trash talking that has been going on off the field, we can well understand the mood the two teams are in. We can expect not only some fierce cricket but also some banters and sledging as the Ashes is all set to turn friends into foes.
Australian opener David Warner has used words like ‘war’ and ‘hatred’ to describe the Ashes and has signalled his teammates to go into the game with the same mentality on Thursday. Aussie spinner Nathan Lyon has also boiled up the temperature by saying the Aussies are out to end some English careers.
But expert cricket analyst Harsha Bhogle seems to be against all these pre-match trash talking and also expressed his disappointment on popular social media website Twitter. Harsha quoted,
“Anyone else finds this pre-Ashes trash-the-opposition talk childish? In cricket, there is only ever one contest…..and that is on the field”.
According to Harsha, cricket has always been a game played on the field and not off it. He also labelled the war of words ‘childish’.
However, former Aussie cricketers Shane Warne and Michael Clarke believe England would go into the monumental clash as favourites.
But at the same time, Clarke also has pointed out that this is a golden chance for Steve Smith and his men to prove their mettle against a strong English side that will do everything possible to retain the urn. The Ashes kicks off at the Gabba, Brisbane from the 23rd of November and promises to be highly energetic and eventful.
