Has Prgyan Ojha Decided To Skip Upcoming Domestic Season?

In July, three months before the start of the Ranji season, India spinner Pragyan Ojha decided to switch his base back to his native state Hyderabad, after spending two years with Bengal.

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), however, did not respond to his request and as a result, Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) had to write to the parent body, i.e. BCCI to clear the matter. Later, Ojha was selected in the preliminary Ranji Trophy squad of Bengal, which meant that he would play for Bengal.

It was learnt that Ojha would get his NOC, even after being named in the squad but all the rumours were put to rest when Sourav Ganguly, CAB’s President, cleared that they will not release Ojha.

The left-arm spinner had joined Bengal ahead of 2015/16 season on Ganguly’s advice, and now it was the same person who rejected his request for an NOC.

From that day, Ojha is yet to establish any contact with CAB’s authority and saw himself dropped from the Ranji Trophy side for the first two games.

Considering all the events going through, is it an indication that Ojha might skip the 2017/18 season?

This can be a case as there has been much talk about him in the past few days and he would have established communication with CAB officials if he was interested in playing for the state. Now, he has no other option but to represent Bengal.

As of now, he has been dropped for first two games and might have to wait to come back in the squad, even if he decides to play as selectors and state association didn’t learn about him from past many days.

There still looms a question whether he will play the upcoming season and if he decides to play, will CAB allow him to walk in the team after being not in touch from past few weeks? Or if he decides to skip the season, then who will be at a loss?
